Dinesh D’Souza’s Death of A Nation

Roger L. Simon posted his review of Dinesh D’Souza’s new documentary film Death of A Nation. The review concludes:

. . . Dinesh is definitely not premature in assessing the moment we are in as critical to the future of our nation, even its existence as we know it.  And he has made the most impassioned film he could to help move people in the right direction. This alone makes it compelling.  Most films are made for no reason at all but wealth and self-aggrandizement and show it.

The question remains -- as it is with all works of this nature -- will anybody see it who doesn't already agree with it?  Reporting from my new home in Nashville, I am not optimistic.  I was alone in the theatre with one other couple.  Whatever the case, D'Souza has to be applauded for his effort.  He's a patriot and an immigrant who makes a great case for legal immigration all by himself.

The full review at PJ Media is here. The documentary is currently at several Cleveland area theaters (Valley View, Beachwood, Middleburg Hts.). Click on the movie website here; when you select “Get Tickets” the area theater details will pop up.

I have not seen the movie, but I have read a related article that Mr. D'Souza published the other day at American Greatness here; entitled “The Switch That Never Happened: How the South Really Went GOP,” it is adapted from the book.

Support ICE and our Border Patrol

Our friend and colleague Arzella reports that there is a “Prayer Walk for Children, Families, and Neighbors at Risk” in Painesville this Friday at 6pm. This march is to bear “witness to the plight of the over 2000 children recently separated from their families through ICE raids...” Click here for the Facebook announcement.

On Friday, June 29, you can join Arzella who

. . .will be standing at 100 Main Street in Painesville at 6:15 P.M. on Friday with a sign in support of ICE and Border Patrol.

Calling all Cleveland Tea Party people who can join Arzella to support law enforcement and legal immigration. Make your sign and head to Painesville on Friday.

Click here for a map (click on the map itself to embiggen).

UPDATE:
If you are planning to join Arzella in Painesville on Friday, I am linking to an article by Judicial Watch at Canada Free Press that reports what the mainstream media is not reporting:

While the mainstream media and much of the nation are preoccupied with sob stories about the shelter accommodations of illegal immigrants, the U.S.-Mexico border remains a cesspool of crime where federal agents have confiscated more than 360,000 pounds of drugs, arrested thousands of individuals with criminal convictions and busted hundreds of violent gangbangers so far this year. The latest statistics issued by the Border Patrol are downright disturbing and illustrate the urgency of properly securing the famously porous southwest border.

Gov. Kasich: do you mean legal or illegal immigration?

art credit: beforeitsnews.com

Breitbart reports on Gov. Kasich’s appearance on Fox News Sunday (warning: GOPe Weasel Words Alert):

. . . Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) said the “bulk” of the Republican party was pro-immigration and not moving towards nationalism.
Kasich said, “I think the bulk of the Republican Party — and I’ve been in the party since I was a college student — it’s one that believes in the fact that America has a place in the world, Reagan talked about it, it advances humanity. I agree. I think the bulk of the Republican Party does believe that immigration provides energy to our country.”
He continued, “I think the bulk of the Republican party believes that America is special and has a place in the world to advance freedom and free enterprise and all those things. I think that this move towards nationalism where we are looking inward, has a lot of loud voices but I don’t think it’s the bulk.”
Speak for yourself, Gov. Kasich. You are not speaking for Americans who support LEGAL immigration, not ILLEGAL immigration or amnesty.

President-elect Donald Trump made immigration a core component of his campaign for the White House. Despite winning the election [then] just two days ago, his transition team has already released a 10-point plan to “restore integrity to our immigration system, protect our communities, and put America first”:
  1. Build a Wall on the Southern Border
  2. End Catch-and-Release
  3. Zero Tolerance for Criminal Aliens
  4. Block Funding for Sanctuary Cities
  5. Cancel Unconstitutional Executive Orders & Enforce All Immigration Laws
  6. Suspend the Issuance of Visas to Any Place Where Adequate Screening Cannot Occur
  7. Ensure that Other Countries Take Their People Back When We Order Them Deported
  8. Finally Complete the Biometric Entry-Exit Visa Tracking System
  9. Turn Off the Jobs and Benefits Magnet
  10. Reform Legal immigration to Serve the Best Interests of America and its Workers

It's a start.

Immigration rally in Painesville

Art credit: godfatherpolitics.com
 From the News-Herald:
Immigration issue draws rally to Painesville Square
By Betsy Scott, The News-Herald
POSTED: 08/08/15, 6:09 PM EDT | UPDATED: 1 HR AGO

. . .
The event was held by the Grassroots Rally Team of Ohio to help send the message “Americans first.”
The rally was organized on the heels of the fatal shooting of a Concord Township woman in her home and injury to a woman walking with her children on Lake Metroparks’ Greenway Corridor.
The suspect is Juan Emmanuel Razo, 35, of Painesville, who is believed to be a Mexican citizen in the country illegally. A local immigration advocacy group has said that Razo has been trying to get his green card for more than a decade.
The Grassroots Rally Team of Ohio was begun in Lake County in 2007 and has held similar events elsewhere, said coordinator Arzella Melnyk of Kirtland.
“There has been a lot of information in the news lately about sanctuary cities; there have been tragedies that have happened to families and we just thought it was time to get together again,” she said, “just to let our elected officials know that we’re not happy with what’s going on, and we expect them to do what they’ve been elected to do, and that is to actually protect U.S. citizens, and that’s why we need our borders secured and immigration laws enforced.”
Speaker Ralph King, state coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots urged attendees to go to their local government officials and seek passage of resolutions in support of enforcing immigration laws.
“If you keep fighting it at the top, we’re not going to win,” he said.
. . .
Robert Najmulski, a Federation for American Immigration Reform field representative who spoke at the event, envisions more people getting involved.
“If things keep going the way they’re going, there’s going to be people sitting here all the way to the end of the park and all the way down the street,” he said. “That day is coming, they will follow you, but unfortunately it’s going to take things getting a lot worse.”
He noted that he is not anti-immigration nor anti-immigrant.
“Enough is enough,” he said. “The political correctness about the whole thing, all of the heart-wrenching stories ... It’s got to get down to one thing. Just like I deal with my kids, (whom) I love … in my home, this is daddy’s laws, daddy’s rules; and in this country, we have rules, we have laws, and you will follow them or you will leave.”
